About

Shannon Valenzuela, who writes science fiction under the pen name Shannon Blake, is an award-winning screenwriter, novelist, and short story writer. Her stories range from intergalactic adventures to visions of a future five minutes from now, but they all involve questions of the human spirit: courage in the face of great darkness, curiosity and its consequences, and love as the thing that makes us who we are.

She’s been a writer since she could read, and her love of story has carried her not only to Hollywood, but also to the hallowed halls of the university, where she is a professor of humanities and English literature. She has a Ph.D. in medieval literature, which has given her the incredible excuse of puttering about with ancient manuscripts, learning languages with funny letters, and generally hunting for the echoes of the future in the stories of the past.

She lives in Dallas with her family and their German Shepherd.
